About the artist

Esther Merinero’s practice explores the idea of ‘je ne sais quoi’. Her work responds to notions of the unconscious, the sublime and rebus writing, doing so through painting and text. It is the non-presentation of something being said or shown which gives a figureless body to her work. She is currently studying her second year of BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design.

Recent exhibitions include ‘Slippers’ at Hoxton Basement, London, 2014. This exhibition was co-organised and co-curated by Esther, showcasing 48 artists from Universities around Europe. ‘Swallow presents The Lav’ at ArtsLav, Kennington, 2014 and ‘First Year Show’ at Chelsea College of Art and Design, 2013.
